Flying On The Fringe

Ran into the pirates about 1.5 light years from Dagran. This ship doesn’t have the weaponry to fight them, so I had to turn and run for the asteroid belt back in the Argus system. I led them into the field and watched for a big one with smaller ones scattered around it. Found one and ducked around behind the big one, then pushed hard for a little one back the way I’d come. The one I picked was just big enough to hide my ship, but it wouldn’t have hidden the pirates, so I hoped they’d ignore it. They did, and spent hours cruising the big one thinking I was hidden in a crevice. Each time they went around on the far side, I moved to another small asteroid father toward the edge of the field, until I finally made a break for Dagran. I don’t know how long it took them to give up on that big one, because I was long gone by the time they did. Trouble is, now I’ll be late to Dagran and the pay will be docked. I sent reports to both Argus and Dagran. Hope somebody takes out these runt boors soon.
