Made it through the wormhole. They are scary as the fiery pits of damnation, even when you’ve been through them several times. The ship is dragged through by the force of gravity. It bounces and shakes, and sometimes heaves over to one side like you’re driving over a rough road in a ground vehicle. The gravitational stresses make it groan and scream. Sounds as though the ship will be torn apart at the seams at any moment. Even the computers can’t deal with the wormholes and have to be shut down while in transit. Marlon used to seem calm when we went through them, so maybe eventually I’ll get used to them.

This was the first time I registered with the wormhole manager as captain of the Gilded Starlilly. The manager is aboard a station in a permanent geo-stationary orbit around the mouth of the wormhole. He asked about Marlon and I had to explain he had died. I think he was a little suspicious, but I sent him my documents and he didn’t ask any more questions after that. It still seems surreal to call myself captain.
